Hiding in plain sight

It just goes to show you that animals are coloured a specific way to blend in with their environment. A Blue Heron is actually grey with a bluish tinge to it, Yet it hides among the fir trees on this island.

Today I have three

It was a very hot day today. Not much in the action dept. going on. Thank god the beer was cold. I went into my bacck yard to enjoy the sun ( finally). I turned to see the Heron on my nieghbor's lawn and dropped my beer running for my camera. A few shot into it the Heron flew over to a rock that sticks out of the water giving this unique vanatge point.

Always keeping an eye out

I was out back on the tractor cutting the lawn. When I turned the wheel to cut the edge by the water a Heron caught my eye. Forever watching the water got this bird got me thinking...... I'm doing the same thing....Forever watching! You never know what one might miss out on.

The call of the loon

It's a very cool feeling one gets when someone cretaes something or gets inspired after viewing a work of art that that you have created. Here is a poenm titled," The call of the loon". A friend of mine wrote this after viewing a photograph of a loon that I had posted online. So , I went back to the drawing board so to speak and tried to convey in a picture what she had written. Thanks Andrea!

Where the journey all began

This is one of the first pictures I have taken with a "real"camera. The place is ssituated on Sturgeon Lake just outside of Dunsford ontario which is literally minutes from Bobcaygeon. It was taken in the fall of 2009.

The call of the wild

This guy must be a loner. It's here evrday and every night. I hear the yodel of the loon at night and that is my lullibye. The "Common loon" is also known as the"Great Loon" as it the biggest of it's species. The name Loon comes as a result of it being spotted on land and walking a bit looney, Thus the name.

This is one of my daily visitors. It comes everday to a dead tree that overlooks the water between my bacck lawn and the island just 50 ft away. From there it hunts for fish. I wait patiently for it to strike and wouldn't ya know it, It does so when my back is turned. I will continue to get that shot though.....one of these days my friend....one of these days!

One with nature

I try and get out everyday and capture moments in time and this Mallard caught my attention. He was in an almost "Zen Like" pose.

My Slice of Heaven

Everyone has their own "Go to place". This is mine. My own slice of Heaven. Shaded through out the day and far enough from the road. Here I can sit and relax, think about the days events and what tomorrow might offer. For me this is a perfect spot. It's literally a 10 minute walk away!

Osprey Perch

It was 6:30am Sunday May 8th 2011 ( Mother's day). I had been up all night long. I heard the screech I now know as an Osprey call. This particular bird comes everyday and perches itself atop a broken pine tree on the island just offshore from my backyard. From there it looks for fish swimming and dives in ( usually when i'm not ready for it (LOL).
